Pomerode integrates German culture into race day, featuring half-timbered houses, traditional bands, folklore groups, cuca cake, German games, and beer alongside a road-running program in Santa Catarina. The Maratona Internacional de Pomerode, established in 2008, includes a marathon, half marathon, 6km race, and a kids' race. The longer races commence early in the morning, with the 6km race starting later.
The course is noted for being flat, attracting runners seeking fast times as well as a festive atmosphere. The half marathon route includes a beer stop, and beer is also available at the finish line. Organized by Corre Brasil, the event draws competitive runners, casual participants, and families to a weekend program featuring RunFest, food trucks, music, folklore performances, and activities reflecting the city's German-Brazilian heritage.
