Run For Palestine Calgary begins and ends at Confluence Plaza on St. Patrick's Island, close to the Calgary Zoo. This community run and walk focuses on raising funds for humanitarian aid. It includes a kids race, a 5K run, a 2K walk, and a separate accessible 2K walk. This is the event's sixth year, and its organizers state that all proceeds support humanitarian aid through ongoing partnerships with Islamic Relief and IDRF Canada.
The event is designed for families and teams, as well as individual runners. Features include fundraising leaderboards, sponsor tiers, a kids activity zone, balloons, face painting, kite making, and a community BBQ. The accessible walk was developed with Muhsen to offer a supported option for participants with special needs and their families. The previous Calgary event attracted nearly 1,000 participants and raised close to CA$100,000, giving it the atmosphere of a local gathering with a distinct charitable aim, rather than a typical road race.
