5. Horpizlauf Wagrien-Fehmarn

The Hospizlauf Wagrien-Fehmarn is an 85 km trail race starting in Oldenburg/Holstein, Germany, held in September with a 13-hour time limit. It is a small ultra, not a mass event, with entries limited to 100 runners, organized by Oldenburger Sportverein von 1865 e.V. The route follows bike paths and farm tracks, consisting of approximately 60% asphalt, 30% firm sand paths, and the remainder divided between singletrack and about 800 metres of sandy beach. Runners will be near the coast for many kilometres, pass beneath the Fehmarn Sound Bridge, and find aid stations on piers. The race also serves a local cause: each entry supports Förderverein Hospiz Wagrien-Fehmarn e.V., which is working to establish a hospice in Oldenburg in Ostholstein.
