Gravel for Barbecue

Gravel for Barbecue is a gravel cycling event in Werne, starting and finishing at Gymnasium St. Christophorus. Riders select one of two routes: 79 km with approximately 400 meters of elevation gain, or 101 km with approximately 700 meters of elevation gain. Each distance may be ridden as a guided tour with experienced guides, or as a self-supported ride following a GPS track at one's own pace. The event is organized by RSC Werne and is affiliated with German Cycling and the BDR, offering kilometer credits for German Cycling. Food is integral to the event's identity: registration includes on-course refreshments, an early starter package with coffee or tea and a pastry, ice cream during the ride, and shared finish-line catering with drinks and barbecue from the organizer's smoker. A sweeper vehicle supports riders, and the entry fee includes a donation to a regional social project and entry into a raffle.
