About
The indeland Triathlon begins with a swim in Blausteinsee in Eschweiler, followed by a bike course through the indeland region, and concludes with a run through central Aldenhoven. This event is a weekend triathlon series in western Germany, offering middle, short, and popular-distance races for adults, alongside the indeland Tri Kids event for children. The main triathlon is in its 18th year, and the children’s race is in its 5th, establishing a local tradition rather than a large-scale spectacle.
The adult bike course crosses the urban areas of Jülich, Düren, and Eschweiler, the municipality of Inden, and the distinctive industrial scenery surrounding the Inden open-cast mine and Weisweiler power plant. The Tri Kids race involves 120 children divided into four age groups, with distances adjusted from 33 m swimming, 1 km cycling, and 200 m running for the youngest participants to 300 m swimming, 8.5 km cycling, and 2000 m running for the oldest. The children’s race is untimed, and all finishers receive a medal and certificate, integrating the junior event as a genuine component of the weekend.
