Paderborn sits in the rolling farmland of North Rhine-Westphalia where the Paderborn Spring feeds the Lippe River—mostly flat through the city itself, but the Egge hills rise immediately to the south and east, cresting around 468m. Cyclists dominate the local scene: the Paderborner Windpark-RTF (112km) and Libori RTF (150km) are the signature events, threading through the gentle climbs and grain fields of the Hochstift region. Runners find fast ground along the river paths and Schlosspark, though the terrain offers little challenge beyond the flat Berndorfer Volkslauf.
