O wyścigu
The Ultramarsch Rügen 60 km is a long trail race on Germany’s Rügen island, starting and finishing in Sassnitz. Participants can select 60 km or 120 km at the event, but the 60 km option is a full day, with a 14-hour limit and 520 meters of elevation gain. The organizer caps the field at 500 participants, and GPS tracking allows followers to track runners live as they traverse the island.
The 60 km course is a loop from Sassnitz through Lohme, Bobbin, and Lietzow before returning to Sassnitz. The route is described by the organizer as varied, demanding, and “the hammer.” This format leans towards an endurance march or trail challenge rather than a polished city race. It has no IAU label and is not ranking eligible, so the appeal lies in the distance, the island route, and the small-field adventure over official ultra status.
