The Carrera FAN-PIN Miguel de Cervantes begins with an artillery salute within the military town of San Carlos in San Fernando. This civic-military obstacle race, organized by the Spanish Marine Infantry brigade Tercio de Armada, features an eight-kilometer course incorporating dirt, mud, water, and numerous obstacles. Over 750 individuals registered, with 656 runners beginning the race following the salute.
The race utilizes the San Carlos setting instead of typical city streets, establishing a military connection from the outset. The course is challenging and physically demanding, with participants navigating mud rather than aiming for fast road times. A new addition this year was a children’s FAN-PIN route, introducing younger participants and families to an event already in its eighth edition.
