Carrera Nocturna Las Gabias is a nighttime running event in Las Gabias, Granada, held in late December with a Christmas atmosphere. The Las Gabias City Council organizes it. The main race uses a 4 km circular route starting from the sports complex on Calle Juan Antonio Samaranch. Different age categories may run different distances, and the rules allow people of any age to enter. Registration is free; runners contribute useful items instead: toys for children or hygiene products for vulnerable minors in the municipality.
The race draws more than 400 athletes from across Granada province, but it is designed for local participation as much as for competition. Many runners come in costume, costume prizes are part of the event, and the route is decorated with Christmas motifs. The charitable aspect is central: collected toys are handed to Caritas, which distributes them to disadvantaged families in Las Gabias. The first 400 registered finishers receive a gift, adding another small local tradition to a race that has already reached its twenty-fourth edition.
