O wyścigu
Carrera Nocturna Vélez-Málaga is a night road race in Vélez-Málaga, the main town of La Axarquía in Andalusia. The primary event is a 5,000-meter urban run, certified by the Andalusian Athletics Federation and coordinated by the city sports department with Club Atletismo Vélez. It is a well-attended local event, not exclusively for elite athletes, with the 5K open to participants from the SUB16 category upwards and shorter races available for children.
The start and finish are located in Plaza de Las Carmelitas, in the town center. The course crosses the historic center, going through main streets and past local monuments, and features two challenging ascents to the Castillo de la Fortaleza. Younger participants have their own race distances before the main event: 1,200 meters for SUB12 and SUB14, 800 meters for SUB10, and 500 meters for SUB8. The race, now in its seventh edition, offers a straightforward appeal: a brief night race within the city, designed around Vélez-Málaga’s old streets and the fortress climb.
