Lugo is a compact Galician city ringed by its famous Roman walls, which runners lap for steady hill repeats on the 2.1km loop. The surrounding rural terrain draws mountain bikers to the granite-studded trails of the Lugo hills—the BTT A Fortaleza (60km) and Ruta BTT do Nadal (30km) are the region's flagship events, tackling rooty climbs and fast descents through eucalyptus and pine forest. The city centre sits at roughly 480m elevation; trails push higher into rolling terrain where drainage ditches and rocky sections test technical skill.
