Triatlón Río Mundo is a regional triathlon held in Riópar, Albacete, Spain, offering Sprint and Half-distance races. Organized by Club Grego Racing Team, the event takes place in July. The Sprint consists of a 750 m swim, 34 km bike, and 5.7 km run. The Half involves a 1.9 km swim, 82 km bike, and 20 km run. Local reports from the first edition noted it as the longest and hardest triathlon in Castilla-La Mancha, indicative of the challenging terrain, especially the bike course.
The swim segment is located at the Zapateros reservoir in Vianos, situated 13 km from Riópar at an elevation of 1,170 m. Sprint participants complete one 750 m lap, while Half athletes swim two 950 m laps. In one instance, the water temperature was 24°C, leading to wetsuit use for the Half but not the Sprint. The Sprint bike course travels from Zapateros through Salobre to Riópar, permits drafting, and includes 450 m of climbing followed by 650 m of descent. The Half bike course is non-drafting, and organizers suggest using a time-trial bike due to extended sections suitable for maintaining an aerodynamic position.
