Lorient's running and cycling scene is shaped by its coastal position on the Morbihan gulf in Brittany—flat to gently rolling terrain ideal for tempo work and long rides along the rias. The Tour de la rade by lazare is a 21km cycling route that loops the harbour; inland, the Kewenn Gravel events (68km and 89km) based in nearby Quéven offer gravel and mountain-bike racing in the heath and woodland just east of the city.
