O wyścigu
The Trail des Ducs begins at the Jean-Bernard stadium in Bar-le-Duc, located in France's northeastern Meuse department. Participants, including runners and walkers, convene there on a Sunday morning in spring. This event is part of a local trail-running series organized by the Association Multisports Barisienne. The program features several distances: trail races of approximately 10 km, 17 km, and 24 km, along with a timed Nordic walk. A recent edition saw 449 participants, indicating it's a substantial community race, distinct from a massive city marathon.
The course selections offer participants a choice between a shorter trail run, extended off-road races, and Nordic walking, which includes a measured ascent. The Nordic walk covers 11 km with 180 meters of elevation gain. The stadium serves as the central point for logistics, providing bib collection before race day and on the morning of the events, along with parking, changing facilities, showers, food, and a refreshment stand. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each category, with each award ceremony commencing only after the last competitor in that event has crossed the finish line.
