Trail en Côte-Rôtie is a trail-running series in Ampuis, a village in France’s Rhône department, with races set on the steep vineyard slopes above town. The event is held in October and offers runners three main distances: a short but sharp 13.82 km route, a 24.33 km middle distance, and a 43.74 km long course that can be run solo or as the AOC en Duo team race.
The courses climb through the Côte-Rôtie vineyard landscape, with the Pilat massif behind the village. La Verticale packs 543 meters of climbing into 13.82 km, La Brune et Blonde rises 1,060 meters over 24.33 km, and the AOC route reaches about 2,250 meters of ascent and descent over 43.74 km, so even the shorter options are built around hard uphill running rather than flat speed.
