Community Canal Run 2026

The Community Canal Run is a free, untimed run along the canal between Bridgwater and Taunton. It offers a 14-mile route and a shorter 7.5-mile option. While not a race against the clock, registration is required for planning and insurance purposes. The main route begins at the YMCA in Bridgwater, following the off-road tow path beside the canal and River Tone to COACH in French Weir Park, Taunton. The 7.5-mile option starts at Maunsel Lock. Participants can run, jog, or walk. There are no medals or aid stations; runners are advised to use the cafes along the route, such as Purple Spoon, Maunsel Lock Tea Rooms, and The Weir. Channel Events organizes the event with Taunton Running Club. Apex Medical and Rescue provides support. Donations are encouraged for the Canal and River Trust, which waived the licence fee.
