The Crocodile Challenge is a six-hour off-road race held annually in January at Ryton Pools Country Park, located near Coventry. Rather than covering a set distance, participants, including runners, hikers, and walkers, complete as many 5k laps as they wish within the six-hour time limit. Individuals can opt to complete a single lap, receive a medal and a drink, and depart, while others may continue for the entire duration of the event.
The race route crosses year-round accessible terrain within the Warwickshire countryside, featuring woodland paths, areas with bluebells, open vistas, and a challenging incline that adds difficulty to the loop. The event supports Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, with Marvin the Marvelous Crocodile serving as the charity's mascot. A portion of entries are designated for fundraising, and 7.5% of all entry fees are contributed to the charity. The location also offers practical amenities, including parking, a cafe, and restrooms situated near the race headquarters.
