The Westonbirt Arboretum Races Winter is a winter night running event held at Westonbirt Arboretum, the National Arboretum located near Tetbury in the South West of England. Participants start in the early evening, and the event continues into the night. The appeal lies not only in the distance but also in the opportunity to run through the arboretum after dark. Relish The Great Outdoors organizes this event, offering a setup that accommodates families and beginners, rather than being exclusively for competitive club runners.
The course follows firm ground, resembling road running more than rugged trail, yet it passes through one of Britain’s significant tree collections. Westonbirt houses over 2,500 tree species and five national tree collections, featuring rare trees from across the globe. The route winds through various planted sections, distinguishing it from a typical town 5K or road race loop. As entry can sell out, this local winter event typically requires advance booking.
