Olympus Ultra is a 71 km mountain ultramarathon on Mount Olympus, beginning at midnight from the Archaeological Park in Dion. It ascends from near sea level to 2,910 m, featuring 5,550 m of elevation gain, positioning it among Greece's most challenging running races. The event is relatively new, with only a few editions held so far.
The route encircles Olympus's highest peaks instead of ascending and descending a single summit. Participants will pass Papa Rema, climb Barbala at 1,840 m, proceed through Xerolackki, and reach Scholio, the mountain’s second-highest peak at 2,910 m. Following this is a significant descent to Prionia, followed by further climbing and descending through the Enipeas gorge alongside the river. A section of the course was modified following the introduction of new regulations aimed at preserving Olympus's natural and cultural environment.
