25. Salzkammergut Trophy

The Marktplatz start reveals the character of the 25. Salzkammergut Trophy: no gentle beginning, just cyclists lining up before dawn for a race with the motto “to hell and back.” It is a tough, old-school bike marathon centered around Bad Goisern, offering seven route choices and a headline course with over 7,000 meters of climbing. A serious field of riders is expected: fast teams, tandem cyclists, gravel bikes, mountain bikers, and even a separate unicycle marathon. The weekend includes a bike fair and the Scott Junior Trophy, but the main unique feature is on the podium: the top three in each age group receive the large Dachstein Cup, an Actaeonella fossil approximately 80 million years old.
