Latina sits on the Pontine Plain, a flat agricultural landscape south of Rome that makes running fast and straightforward—the Corsa del Ricordo loops around Fogliano Lake at 14.6km, and the Maratonina Azzurra is a reliable local 10km. Cyclists here use Latina as a springboard into the Monti Simbruini and Carpetani hills 30–50km east; the Granfondo Città di Subiaco (122km) and Granfondo Rerum Novarum (126km) both tackle those Appennine climbs, with 800–1000m elevation gain typical for rides into the interior.
