Sassari's running scene orbits the coast: the IX Alghero Half Marathon and I Diecimila di Alghero draw athletes to the nearby seaside town, where the courses stay mostly flat along the Mediterranean shoreline around 40m elevation. Cyclists navigate inland limestone plateaus and rolling terrain toward the Gennargentu uplands to the east, or head west to Alghero's coastal roads for a mix of sea views and gentle climbs through Sardinian scrubland.
