O wyścigu
Dębowa Dycha is an Independence Day race held in Police, Poland, starting from the glade behind Primary School No. 8. Organized by Fundacja Aktywne Police, it combines sports with patriotic observance. The event features 5 km and 10 km cross-country runs, a 5 km Nordic Walking event, and short races for children. Its connection to Poland’s national holiday in November means the day focuses on more than just race times and finish lines.
Before the main races commence, participants, guests, and spectators gather to sing the Polish national anthem. The children’s races begin with preschoolers covering 300 meters, followed by older age groups running 400 or 600 meters. The primary course is off-road, incorporating an uphill stretch towards Dęby Bogusława. This challenging section, contributing to the race’s “Oak Ten” moniker, provides a more demanding route than a typical flat road race.
