O wyścigu
Viken Runt is a Swedish race series near Viken, offering rides from a short 22 km event to a 68 km road option and a 129 km forest route. The long route begins and ends at Halna Church, consisting mostly of gravel (about 85 percent) with 15 percent asphalt. It is not a technical ride but is lengthy, featuring steady rolling elevation and long stretches away from populated areas. The road version starts in Töreboda, circles the bay, and is used by local groups as a late-May training ride before Halvvättern.
The 129 km course crosses well-maintained forest roads in Skaraborg, with few loose stones but limited services. Riders must carry food, drink, repair tools, and sufficient energy for the quiet sections with few aid stops. Forsvik serves as the main break point, offering coffee, food, a view of the canal lock, and occasional live music. The event includes a social aspect: faster 28+ riders, slower groups, companions, and family members are all accommodated, with some participants gathering for lunch afterward. Team Utan Gränser suggests optional donations to its Doctors Without Borders fund when riders use the routes.
