Plymouth itself sits on the coast with flat seafront running along the Hoe and the Barbican, though serious runners head inland to Dartmoor (starting around 15km north) for moorland terrain and elevation gain. Cyclists use the coastal paths for easy miles but find the real riding north toward Dartmoor's rolling hills and the challenging climbs toward Tavistock and the moorland tops.
