21st Annual Bear Foot 5K and Half Mile Fun Run 2027

The Bear Foot 5K begins and ends at Sunshine Elementary School in Bostic, North Carolina. It takes place each March to raise funds for K-5 students. This community 5K includes chip timing and a free half-mile run or walk for children in fifth grade and under. A Phantom Runner option is available for those who wish to support the school without participating in the run. The 5K course is largely flat and out-and-back, conducive to fast times; the course records are 16:56 for men and 18:46 for women. Early registrants receive the event’s popular hoodie or shirt preference. Local runners can pick up their packets early. Awards are generous for a school race, with trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers and medals for many age groups, followed by an awards ceremony in the school gym. The event proceeds rain or shine, and pets are not permitted.
