9th Annual Historic Hillsborough Half Marathon and 5K - 2026

The Historic Hillsborough Half Marathon and 5K begins at the Eno River Farmers Market in downtown Hillsborough, North Carolina, offering participants a choice between 21.1 kilometers and 5 kilometers. This fall road race, organized by the Hillsborough Running Club, features routes that wind through the town’s historic streets, along river paths, and past notable landmarks. The half marathon route crosses "over the river and through the woods," continues along the Riverwalk greenway beside the Eno River, and incorporates a section of the Occoneechee Speedway Trail. Participants will see locations like the Old Orange County Courthouse, with the course highlighting Hillsborough’s three centuries of architectural history. The town also fosters a local running community, supporting events such as Little River Trail runs, the Got GRIT 5K, and races at Camp Chestnut Ridge.
