The Adirondack Health 5K Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning walk/run in Lake Placid, New York. It begins at 8:30 a.m. on a flat route around Mirror Lake. This event is designed for those seeking a short race before their holiday meal, including runners, walkers, families, and children 12 and under, who can participate without charge. The event attracts over 600 local participants and benefits local food pantries and Adirondack Health’s Fit for Life program.
The course starts near the Beach House in Lake Placid and follows the lake loop. Older race materials also connect the start and finish to the Olympic Oval. Registered runners receive a long-sleeve Turkey Trot shirt. Check-in includes 12-foot inflatable turkeys. The race maintains its holiday theme with awards for the top three male and female finishers, and a mystery Turkey Runner: beating this runner earns an award and Thanksgiving bragging rights. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. Dogs must remain at home.
