Baileys Dirt Fondo

Baileys Dirt Fondo is a singletrack bike event on the Baileys Trail System in Wayne National Forest, using Appalachian trails near the Chauncey-Dover Park Trailhead. It runs in October and offers four ride choices, from a 5-mile Family Ride to a 41-mile Black Diamond route, allowing families and experienced mountain bikers to participate in the same event at different distances. The concept is adapted from the Italian Gran Fondo, but the riding is on dirt, forest, and singletrack instead of a road pack. Participants receive Italian-inspired treats during the ride, finishing at a post-ride gathering at Chauncey-Dover Park Trailhead with food and music. The event is in its fourth edition, and volunteer effort is a key aspect: one recent running involved 33 volunteers contributing 143 hours of work.
