BIRR Monster Mash Mile Fun Run

The BIRR Monster Mash Mile Fun Run is a Halloween-themed one-mile run at Wailoa State Park in Downtown Hilo. A separate 400-yard race is held for children 12 and under. The mile begins in the morning, with the kids' race following. This format suits runners seeking a quick speed test and families looking for a short, low-pressure outing. Costumes are encouraged, with awards for the top male and female costumes alongside prizes for the fastest three men and women in the mile. Stroller awards are also presented. Every child participating in the kids' race receives a prize. Snacks and water will be available. Entry is free for BIRR members and children; a small donation is requested from non-members. The event, co-sponsored with Hilo Run Club, is a new addition to the local calendar.
