The Charlottesville Fall Classic Half Marathon & 10K begins and ends in historic Downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, close to the Historic Downtown Mall. Participants select either a half marathon or a 10K. Both races take place in the Blue Ridge Mountains foothills during autumn, when the foliage in town and by the river typically shows peak color. The field is modest, with just over 400 finishers in the most recent reported edition, giving it the feel of a local road race rather than a large city event.
The course is an out-and-back path that leads runners downtown on Market Street towards Riverview Park. It crosses some of Charlottesville’s older neighborhoods and follows routes near the Rivanna River, offering a blend of city streets, historic residential areas, and riverside autumn scenery. The event originated in the early 2000s and was recognized by Best Things Virginia as one of the state’s top road races.
