Des Moines Triathlon 2026

The Des Moines Triathlon begins at a sandy beach in Gray's Lake Park, Des Moines, Iowa. This summer event offers sprint and Olympic-distance triathlons, allowing athletes to select a shorter race or a longer swim-bike-run format. Relay options are also available, accommodating both teams and individual competitors. The cycling portion takes place on a course closed to traffic, a benefit for less experienced triathletes or those seeking a less stressful ride. The event lineup also features a sprint duathlon, sprint and Olympic aquabike races, a 1500-meter open-water swim, and a high-school-only sprint triathlon.
