The Firecracker 5K is a Fourth of July run, walk, and ruck held in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. The primary event is a 3.1-mile race beginning at Liberty and 4th, a fitting intersection for a holiday race. The morning also features a one-mile fun run, children's races, a 200-meter dash, and virtual 5K participation options.
The course winds through downtown Ann Arbor, concluding before a large holiday audience. Participants in the ruck division carry weighted backpacks. Flag division runners or walkers carry a mounted American flag throughout the event. The hot dog division offers a small group of competitors 76 seconds to consume four hot dogs before commencing their 5K.
