O wyścigu
Gravel Grovel begins and ends at Maumee Scout Reservation in Indiana's Hoosier National Forest, offering race options designed for rugged late-November riding. The primary distance is a 100k gravel race featuring approximately 4,300 feet of elevation gain. Additionally, there is a 100k relay for teams of two or three riders, a 42-mile route, and a 30-mile route that includes divisions for juniors and e-bikes.
The main course combines gravel and pavement with some trail sections. Previous course descriptions mention singletrack, fire roads, and dirt paths, suggesting that bike selection can be as critical as physical condition. Participants have used mountain bikes, cyclocross bikes, tandems, and fat bikes. The event is Indiana's first gravel road race, with one account describing it as “Mother Nature's cyclo-cross course.”
