O wyścigu
The Groundhog Run is a free winter run/walk in Zionsville, Indiana, organized by Indy Runners and Walkers. It starts and finishes at the Zionsville Community High School Freshman Center on Mulberry Street, offering two distance choices: a 5-miler and a 7-miler. This is the event's 54th annual edition, fitting the club-race model: practical, local, and focused on encouraging movement in cold weather, not on a large-scale spectacle.
The route follows paths through Zionsville neighborhoods and the Rail Trail; the 7-mile option includes Phil’s Hill near the finish. Participants can expect straightforward logistics, with one water stop on the course and restrooms available only at the start and finish. Registration is free, though the event accepts monetary donations for the Zionsville Food Pantry. A Groundhog winter hat is available for purchase, and Greek’s Pizzeria provides pizza post-race.
