O wyścigu
Makoa is a 5K, 10K, and half marathon series held at Wai Kai in Ewa Beach on West Oahu. The start and finish are at Hawaii's sole waterfront recreation facility. The event also offers a 5K Turkey Trot for Heroes. The name, pronounced mah-KOH-ah, means brave, fearless, or courageous.
The courses are flat and fast, with each route measured at least three times before race day. Aid stations are positioned about a mile apart, offering water, electrolytes, and first aid, with medical support at every start and finish line. Finishers receive custom medals with distance-specific ribbons, cooling towels, free professional race photos, and a post-race meal of breakfast burritos and chocolate milk.
