Newtown Turkey Trot

The New Canaan Turkey Trot is a 5K run/walk held annually in New Canaan, Connecticut. The course starts and finishes at Waveny Park on South Avenue. This November race is open to runners and walkers of all ages, and includes virtual options for those who prefer to complete a 5K or a 1-mile walk independently. The race is organized by New Canaan students to benefit Open Doors, a local nonprofit assisting adults and families facing poverty and homelessness. Open Doors offers food, clothing, case management, health-service access, employment assistance, continuing education, supportive housing, and emergency shelter. Students also sell event merchandise, such as hats, gloves, and T-shirts, to generate additional funds. The event has contributed over $450,000 to Open Doors across more than twenty years.
