Quarry Turkey is a Thanksgiving weekend trail race held at Quarry Lakes Regional Park in Fremont, California. Participants can choose from a half marathon, 10K, or 5K. This family-friendly event, organized by Brazen Racing, welcomes walkers as well as runners. The half marathon has the organizer as fast and mostly flat, offering a straightforward option for a longer run post-holiday. A free Little Turkeys Race, a short sprint of approximately 100 yards, is available for children.
The races navigate the trails surrounding Quarry Lakes, a park known for its lakes and sufficient local appeal to have caused parking lot congestion at previous events. Thanksgiving costumes are encouraged for both adults and children. The event embraces its theme with a Quarry Turkey mascot appearing two days after the holiday feast. The race also benefits the Alameda County Community Food Bank; participants are encouraged to bring at least one canned good, with collection bins provided on race day. Cash donations can also be made during registration.
