Syracuse Ugly Sweater 5K

The Syracuse Ugly Sweater 5K is a holiday run and walk held at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, New York. Participants wear distinctive, humorous, and festive sweaters as they run through the Lights on the Lake display before its public opening. This is a casual 5K with many participants, focused on beginning the holiday season together rather than achieving fast race times. The race benefits Ainsley's Angels of Syracuse, an organization that supplies adaptive racing chairs, enabling children and young adults with developmental disabilities to participate in road races. Adaptive athletes, volunteers, families, club runners, walkers, and newcomers share the course, regardless of the weather. The attire, decorations, and costumes that contribute to the atmosphere of a mobile holiday party. Participants receive a custom stocking and medal, with awards presented afterward at The Cobblestone.
