Sobre esta prova
The Gänseliesellauf opens the Monheim Stadtfest in Monheim am Rhein, with the race area in Monheim Mitte and the old town. This is its 40th running, and it is structured as a local running afternoon rather than a serious competition. Five distances are offered: 100 meters, 900 meters, 2 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 10 kilometers. The City of Monheim am Rhein organizes it with Sportgemeinschaft Monheim 1894/1968 e. V.
The start and finish area is on Krischerstraße near Mittelstraße by the Sparkasse, and the course profile is flat. The shortest race is an inclusive 100-meter run with no entry fee, while the 900-meter race is for kindergarten children and the 2-kilometer races are for primary school-age children. Adults and older youth can run 5 km or 10 km, so participants range from small children to experienced runners. Late entries are permitted until one hour before each race, fitting the Stadtfest atmosphere: residents from Monheim and nearby can decide to participate without the pressure of a major race weekend.
