Sobre esta prova
The Luisenturmlauf, known as “Luise” to its participants, begins and ends within Ravensberger Stadion in Borgholzhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia. This event features a challenging course through hilly roads and forests in the Teutoburger Wald region, offering a half marathon, a 12.5 km run, a youth race of the same distance, and a 12.5 km walk. The race takes place in early March and has been a fixture on the local running schedule for over five decades.
The course departs the stadium onto local roads before entering the surrounding green areas and ascending forest trails towards the Luisenturm, the highest point and the race's namesake. This ascent provides “Luise” with its demanding character; the organizers' own description notes it has challenged many runners. The event welcomes club athletes, local participants, younger runners, and walkers, making it accessible beyond just half-marathon competitors. RSV Borgholzhausen e.V. now directs the event following a merger of local clubs.
