Nordkirchener Halbmarathon

The Nordkirchen Half Marathon begins at the grand staircase in Nordkirchen Castle Park, near the FC sports facility, and concludes within the park's stadium. This half marathon, organized by the athletics department of FC Nordkirchen e.V., offers the atmosphere of a local club race, distinct from a polished big-city event. Its motto is “Über’n Obsen hopsen,” a local saying connected to Obsen, the farming community that significantly shapes the race's character. The route departs the castle park, proceeds towards Südkirchen, passes through Obsen, and circles back, with participants completing the loop twice. The event centers on three locations: the castle park, the stadium at the castle park, and Obsen. Residents of Obsen offer support to runners along the course annually, contributing a course-side ambiance stemming from a neighborhood's direct involvement. Following sunset, the stadium finish features a torch-lit entry, imbuing the final section with a unique club-race tradition.
