Sobre esta prova
The Offener Vereinscrosslauf der WSG Schwarzenberg-Wildenau is a club cross-country race held in Geyer on Buß- und Bettag, starting from the Schanzenbaude in the Greifenbach valley. WSG Schwarzenberg-Wildenau e.V. organizes it with assistance from SSV Geyer and volunteers. Participants range from children to adults, competing in 6 km and 12 km races. These utilize a 3 km hill lap, run twice or four times, and the event contributes points to the WestsachsenCup.
The course loops around the ski jumps, passes through the Geyrischen Wald, and follows a section of the Röhrgraben. Its partly unpaved terrain establishes it as a genuine autumn cross-country challenge, distinct from a flat road race. The cool, occasionally damp weather suits the Erzgebirge setting. Local clubs, including Läuferbund Schwarzenberg, send athletes to compete. Attendance typically numbers in the mid-hundreds, with participation levels recovering towards pre-COVID figures.
