Sobre esta prova
Ironman Copenhagen begins in the calm water of Amager Beach lagoon, then sends athletes into a full Iron-distance day in Denmark’s capital: a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km bike ride, and a 42.2 km marathon. It is run by Ironman, carries PTO World Ranking Points for the pro field, and uses Copenhagen’s mix of sea, city streets, and royal landmarks instead of a remote resort setting. Typical race conditions are mild for long-course triathlon, with average water around 19°C / 67°F and air temperatures often sitting between about 12°C / 54°F and 22°C / 72°F.
The bike leg rolls north out of the city through North Zealand and along the stretch often called the Danish Riviera. The run is flat and brings athletes past Copenhagen sights such as the Opera House, Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, and the Little Mermaid before the finish in front of Christiansborg Palace. The course suits first-time Ironman athletes because the swim is sheltered and the marathon is flat, but it also attracts fast age-groupers and pros chasing quick times on a capital-city course.
