Desafío Lagos de Covadonga

Desafío Lagos de Covadonga is a cycle-touring event held in Cangas de Onís, Asturias, with riders beginning on Avenida Covadonga. Taking place in June, it offers participants a choice between a Gran Fondo and a shorter Medio Fondo, catering to serious amateur cyclists and those preferring a reduced distance. The Gran Fondo covers 111 km, featuring ascents of Alto la Tornería and Alto de Riensena before directing riders towards the Covadonga mountain region. This long-running event, with over thirty editions completed, has recently focused on enhancing rider experience and safety. Its tradition of honoring a guest rider extends to professional cycling, having recognized Fabio Aru among those selected for tribute.
