Sobre esta prova
Transgrancanaria takes place across Gran Canaria each February, offering race options from a 5 km Family Trail or Short race up to the 125 km Classic. The Classic is the original main event: a long mountain ultra with approximately 6,764 meters of elevation gain, substantial enough to transform the island into a full day-and-night challenge. The same race week also features the 81 km Advanced, 46 km Marathon, 23 km Half, 12 km Promo, and the 6 km Kv El Gigante, catering to both dedicated ultrarunners and those seeking a shorter trail run.
The course crosses from beaches to mountains, passing through forests, desert landscapes, city streets, and villages. Runners frequently encounter cold night sections before facing morning heat. Roque Nublo stands as a prominent landmark, and the island’s terrain allows for pine forests and arid desert environments to be situated mere minutes apart. Transgrancanaria has been held since 2003 and was Spain’s first ultra race, contributing to its draw for thousands of participants. Notable past competitors include Courtney Dauwalter, Pau Capell, Marco Olmo, Caroline Chaverot, Fernanda Maciel, Ryan Sandes, and Azara García de los Salmones, with its television and streaming viewership reaching over 1.5 million.
