GravelMan Orléans is a self-supported gravel and road cycling event in France’s Val de Loire, approximately 90 minutes from Paris. Participants select either a Gravel route, typically 60-70% off-road, or a Road route entirely on pavement. Distances offered are around 60, 120, 200, 350, and 500 kilometers. There is no final ranking; the objective is to complete the chosen route independently, carrying necessary supplies and resolving issues without external assistance.
The routes follow prepared GPS tracks through forests, along the Loire riverbanks, on rural roads, and through UNESCO-listed Loire Valley landscapes. The 500 km option presents significant climbing, around 5,000 meters, while the 350 km route requires substantial endurance with approximately 4,000 meters of elevation gain. The 200 km ride is presented as an introduction to GravelMan, and the 60 km and 120 km formats offer entry points for newer participants. A few days before the start, riders receive the map, route files, mandatory-kit information, and practical details, then begin a day or more of navigation, bikepacking, and self-directed riding.
