Sobre esta prova
The Grand Trail du Lioran is the 50 km race within the Ultra-Trail du Puy Mary Aurillac program, run in June from Aurillac in Cantal, in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park. It is a mountain trail race with 1,800 meters of climbing, and it starts in the morning rather than sending runners out overnight.
The wider UTPMA weekend includes longer and shorter trail races, a hike, and a youth event, so the 50 km sits in the middle of a full local festival of running. TOM 15 organizes the event, bib pickup is at the Jardin des Carmes, aid stations are placed along the route, and several formats require mandatory kit such as water, an eco-cup, a survival blanket, a headlamp, a whistle, food, a waterproof jacket, and a phone. The race also keeps the practical French trail touches: a pasta party before the run, a regional meal, and kit checks that make the mountain setting feel real rather than decorative.
