The Sakai Shiokaze Cross-Country Marathon in Shibamasa is a grass-course running event held at Shibamasa World, Hokuriku’s largest theme park, located on the coast of Fukui Prefecture. The races begin in the morning and will proceed regardless of weather conditions. Five distances are offered: 1.8 km, 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km.
The unique course utilizes the expansive lawns within Shibamasa World, offering views of the Sea of Japan and a sea breeze to the participants. Individual entries are open to healthy runners from fourth grade onwards. The family category is designed for younger children, specifically third grade and below, running with their families. The event is segmented into 24 age and gender divisions, catering to schoolchildren, families, casual runners, and long-distance runners all in one location.
