Harvest Hustle 5k Run/Walk
The Harvest Hustle 5K & Dog Walk is an annual fundraiser held at Norwayne Field to benefit Hope Restored Recovery Home in North Judson, Indiana. The event includes a 5K race for runners and walkers, with a dog walk starting shortly after. Race-day registration is available in the morning. Runners begin first, followed by walkers, and then participants with dogs.
The event is designed for families and racers alike. All ages are welcome, and children five and under can participate for free. Awards will be presented to the first male, female, and child to finish. Every registered participant receives a t-shirt, and dogs participating in the dog walk receive a bandana. Following the race, the field will feature live music, face painting, bounce houses, and food vendors. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than six feet and require current vaccinations; proof is only needed if an incident occurs.
Gobble Gallop
The Gobble Gallop is a Thanksgiving morning race in Duluth, Minnesota, hosted by Duluth Running Company as a decades-long Northland tradition. Around 1,800 runners participate in a set of short, family-friendly events: the Gobble Gallop 5K, the Tough Turkey 1-Mile, and the Gobble Giddy Up! Kids Run.
The race draws people who treat it as part of the holiday itself, including families with children who started coming before they were old enough to run on their own. One runner first joined as a 13-month-old in a stroller and later returned for the Tough Turkey 1-Mile, while his dad and sister raced too. The mood is built around starting Thanksgiving active, often in cold morning weather, and part of the race proceeds benefit Safe Haven.
Christmas in the Park
Christmas in the Park is a December race held at Deming Park, 500 S Fruitridge Ave, Terre Haute, Indiana. Chick-fil-A of Terre Haute sponsors the event, which is associated with Wabash Valley Road Runners. The race features a 5K run, a 5K walk, and a 1-mile youth race known as the Reindeer Romp. Proceeds benefit Clothe a Child, with half of the funds directed to the organization.
The Reindeer Romp begins before the 5K events. The 5K run and walk start later. Both adults and youth may participate in the 5K, while the Reindeer Romp is exclusively for youth. Awards are presented for overall finishers, in 5-year age categories, and for walkers. Walk participants should not run, as walkers are scored separately.
No Luck Irish Run
The No Luck Irish Run begins at Town Square in Plainfield, Indiana, with a March race day centered on St. Patrick’s Day festivities. The primary race is a 5K run/walk, and families also have the option of a Kids Dash or a virtual 5K.
The 5K follows a USATF-certified course designed for fast times, suitable for runners aiming for a personal best, as well as walkers and casual participants. The event encourages costumes, features music, photo opportunities, refreshments, and post-run entertainment, guided by a community principle of promoting fitness and personal development.
